How the Rich Get Thin

OK, here's an exerpt from the latest book I'm, reading How the Rich Get Thin by Jana Klauer, M.D.:

"In this book, we will review the basics of diet and weight loss. Much of the information will be familiar, but I will explain the science of successful dieting so you know exactly what effect each and every food will have on your body. Once we have established the core "diet", we will discuss the nonnegotiables. They are amazingly simple and easily incorporated principles that you must add to your daily routine. They are called nonnegotiables because if you are serious about weight loss, YOU CANNOT SKIP THESE. They make all the difference in the world in helping my patients achieve their optimal weight. These are going to be your secret weapons as well.

Nonnegotiables

1. Daily exercise. You must schedule it into your routine. You need this for healthy muscles. Ig you don't exercise, you will get flabby and fat. It's that simple.

2. Protein. In a high-quality form, protein is vital for the functioning of your body. Include protein at every meal.

3. Calcium. This mineral is essential for increasing metabolism levels.

4. Conquering you food cravings. These can, and must, be managed. I will show you how to do this.*

5. Elimination of all processed food. Processed food has no benefit to your health and also stimulates appetite.

These nonnegotiable principles will make all the difference between those who go on diets, lose weight, and regain it back, and those who get rid of excess pounds for good. I know you can do it, as I have seen my patients enjoy great results with this message. It is hard work, no doubt, but the results are enormously gratifying and, most important, lasting." pp. xv-xvi

Update from PT

They finally have options which actually reflect how I dress!

Black capris and a t-shirt. Yes, I know they've always had t-shirts but this one is actually more representative of my, uh, "chestal" area. ;)

So yesterday's PT appointment went well. I feel better--surgery related only. Unfortunately, she's not there to assist me with my other chronic conditions. :( So when she asks how I'm doing, I always have to stop and remind myself that she's only interested in my neck and left arm.

This morning's workout marked the second day of PHH Power Stretch. But something seems to be wrong with both DVD drives on my pc. They play the video but not the audio from a DVD. But it works just find if I'm playing something from my hard drive. So it's not the sound driver. I guess I'll have to look into it. It's always something, right? At least this isn't major.

Oh, and I found my other workout shoe last night!

TA-DA!!

Ye-ha!

I just WOWY'd for the first time since...hmm...February? And it felt GREAT! :D I'm glad that I continued to keep stretching my legs becuase I could certainly feel the muscle weakness in my arms. :(

Of course, I could only find one shoe! :)) And just now realized that I'd completely forgotten about my HRM! 8-|

But it felt great! :) Even tho the upward & downward dogs were weak, overall it felt great.

Now as long as I don't forget my PT appointment this afternoon, we'll see how it affected me. ;)

I'm losing my marbles....

Or my "norballs" as Ariel used to call them.

I completely spaced and forgot my PT appointment yesterday! Which I guess was good since I couldn't have been there anyway. I don't even know why I made the appointment for the time I did since I had to pick Ariel up from her first half-day of high school.

Tomorrow's Aaron's first day of school so it's the return to my workout routine. I'm so excited! I've got increased motivation to return to where I was before the surgery since none of my clothes fit anymore.

I'm going to start with stretching for a half hour. I've got all my workouts scheduled thru the 11th, when I have my follow-up with the neurosurgeon.

Mixed emotions

So Ariel started high school this morning, and Aaron starts 6th grade on Wednesday.

We have the carpool worked out so that they drop off and I pick up--which works out perfectly for us.

Wednesday morning, I'm going to return to my WOWY routine. I'm going to start with Power Half Hour Stretch and work my way back from there. I'm going to stick with that until my next appointment with the neurosurgeon, on the 11th.

That also means that I'll be posting more often.

Need more drugs!!

I'm out of my Ultram!!! Can't find last month's refill!!!

Oh the pain...it's one of those dam drugs that you don't realize is working until you run out of it.

Physical therapy was good today, though.

Not sure how much more of this I can take...

I am SO dam tired, I can't stand it.

I'm sick of people telling me that it's this or that or that I need to do this or need to do that.

$HIT! I KNOW what's wrong...just let me rest...

I bought a new book entitled Sick and Tired (of Being Sick and Tired). The book is scaring me because it seems like it was written for & about me.

I also bought & read another book entitled Skinny Bitch. THAT one scared me into becoming a vegetarian!! And I'm working my way towards being a vegan.
